I was born in Mexico City, but had the good fortune to be adopted by
loving parents who brought me Santa Barbara, this beautiful town that we all love. I was educated in public schools locally. I had the opportunity of studying in China and Vietnam through the SBCC study abroad program in 2004, and in 2006, to spend a quarter in Washington, DC through the UCDC program while a Political Science major at the University of California, Santa Barbara. I am currently working on a Master's Degree in Public Policy. With my parents' example I learned the importance of community and volunteerism. My work has extended from non-profits, advocacy organizations, political campaigns to more recently a focus on a for-profit venture. In a day of so much technology and modes of communication, from blogs, to social networking sites I have created this website as a central location for me to compile most of my "going-ons" on the internet. I have included links to blogs that I write in. The first is a training blog- for fun I RUN. Sometimes, marathons, sometimes half marathons, other times just for fun. I have a blog- THE URIBE BLOG- where I write things that are relevant, or opinions that I don't otherwise want to condense to send as Letters To The Editor. Lastly, I have a similar blog, that is meant to be more helpful to the community, instead of just my rants, and this one was encouraged by my good friend and creator of City 2.0. I have also included the various social networking sites I participate in. (Twitter (@osum), Facebook, Myspace, Linkedin). I don't think I could handle any more. Something interesting I included, was a link to my campaign website in my 2009 bid for Santa Barbara City Council, and the press that covered my council bid. I am very politically minded, and consider myself a pragmatic progressive individual. Lastly, I hope that you enjoy some of the pictures I have taken that I have also included. I look forward to hearing feedback from you, on anything that might catch your attention. Thank you for your interest, Olivia Uribe |
